In Search of a Dream: The Life and Work of Roye England
Edited by Stephen Williams
The first edition, also edited by Stephen Williams and subtitled The Life and Work of Roye England, is the biography of Roye England, and was published shortly after his death in 1995 it tells the remarkable story of Roye’s life and his struggle to establish Pendon.
In the new edition, Editor Stephen Williams has undertaken a major revision of the book, enlarging it to 240 pages with the addition of two new chapters that explore Roye’s enduring influence on the project and an illustrated appendix that presents the results of research that Stephen has undertaken into a neglected aspect of Roye’s life when he began to model the Dorset village of Lillington instead of the Vale of White Horse.
The book is being printed in colour and alongside many previously unpublished images from Pendon’s archive of photos and an array of on-line picture libraries, a fine selection of Paul Ellis’s stunning images of the Vale Scene is also featured. The new edition is a very handsome tribute to our Founder and we hope that it will continue to tell Roye’s story to a new generation of Pendon visitors and supporters for many years to come.
